After previously working with Rob from Rob Power Photography, we had discussed organising a styled photoshoot at some point but we hadn’t got round to setting a date. A situation presented itself one Friday afternoon, whereby I had some flowers spare so thought I would give Rob a call on the off chance that he would be available for a last minute gig for the following Monday, luckily he was. So I had the flowers, the photographer all I needed to arrange was, dresses, models, accessories, venue & hair & makeup not a small task at last minute I can assure you. However after a fair few phone calls and visits I was in luck & was overwhelmed at the amount of local suppliers that were happy to help.
Part One Gallery Focus’s on the Flowers of three different looks & themes: Contemporary, Timeless & Vintage.
Now where do I start with regards to this wonderful couple…… I met Gemma about a year before their wedding and from the start we hit it off, after obviously chatting about the details of the wedding flowers, we got chatting about love and life over several cups of tea as if we had known each other for years. Over the coming months we met up a few times to catch up regarding the wedding and our friendship bloomed & have met up on social terms during the lead up to the big day & have since.
With friendship of a client comes added pressure to make the day as perfect as possible so in addition to the normal worries about my weddings I had a few sleepless nights worrying (it’s just my nature, not a lack of confidence in what I do more just the fact I care enormously about my business and my job it’s my passion), I needn’t have worried so much as Gemma was a real pleasure to work for and to get to know, needless to say Gemma had nothing but compliment for me & the work my team and I produced and they were over the moon with the results on the day.
Gemma came to me with a photo of a bouquet she liked & we worked the rest of the designs around that, with the freedom to produce some bespoke designs for other aspects of the flowers. I mocked up the bouquet months prior to the wedding so Gemma could see first hand how the flowers & foliage worked together. She opted for Sunflowers, Cerise Germinis, Carthamus, Thistle, Mango & Schwarzwalder Calla Lilies, Hypericum Berries & Cymbidium Orchids, this variety of flowers provided lovely forms & textures to the bouquets. For the rest of the weddings flower designs we used a small selection of them to make the Flower Girls Circlet & Button Holes & all for the Centre Pieces teamed with exotic foliage.
When Gemma & I first met she hadn’t yet found a photographer, I recommended Lemonade Pictures, luckily that was the only date that month they had available & I believe Gemma pipped someone else to the post for the booking.
We had the pleasure of joining Gemma & Gavin with their friends & family in celebrating their big day with an invite to the evening reception – we had a boogie and a couple of drinks, a fabulous time was had by all.
What a stunning day this turned out to be, beautiful sunny hot day in August set the scene for Charlotte & Paul’s wedding. The good weather enabled Charlotte & Paul to take their vows outside at Boughton Monchelsea Place where their guests got to enjoy the views in the sunshine & witness the joining of their loved ones in marriage.
The wedding breakfast was hosted at Charlotte & Paul’s farm home, in a marquee decorated with Chinese lanterns & simple table centre pieces of complimenting flowers of cymbidium orchids & roses.
The colour scheme for the day was various tones of the colour of the Bridesmaids dresses called “Valentine”. A mixture of these tones were reflected in the flowers; we used pink cymbidium orchids, “Purple Power” roses (there couldn’t have been a better match to the swatch, my expectations were exceeded), ivory waxflower & ivory double freesia. I was so pleased with the outcome of the designs on the day. I was also amazed by longevity of the flowers, it was one of the hottest days of the year so far, on my return to the venue the following day to collect the hired items the bouquets had been left on a table and had been out of water for 24 hours – they were as fresh as they did when I had delivered them the day before!!!
A day I have been day dreaming finally arrived when I got to work with some of my favourite materials – succulents & lush foliage.
Jenn worked the succulents into most aspects of the wedding including them in her bouquet, table centres, cake decoration, favours & button holes. I can only take credit for the bouquets as the succulents were supplied by a fantastic supplier in Ashford, Blue Leaf Plants.
Fiona from Blue Leaf Plants & I would love to work together again, so if you love the look of this stunning succulent wedding, please contact me to discuss ideas of how best to incorporate them into your day.
I met Elena & Grant just before Christmas following a recommendation from their wedding photographer Lorna Elizabeth, a photographer I had the pleasure of working with on a previous wedding at Chilston Park nearly two years to the date of Elena & Grant’s wedding.
Elena gave me a few images of the kind of flowers & styles she liked, I advised on seasonal flowers to compliment her colour theme & style, along with some input from Grant we collectively came up with these stunning designs.
We would like to thank you for all the flower arrangements, everything looked amazing! The hair flowers also worked out brilliantly, thank you so much! We got lots of comments on the beautiful flowers during the day! Thank you again!
Grant and Elena”
It was a pleasure working with Elena & Grant, thank you to you both for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day & to Lorna Elizabeth for the recommendation.
